playing CoD in anything but s&d is like asking the all blacks
to play league rules for the tri-nations.

Why?

SnD is a pretty old format, and there are others which would be very good for scrimming as well.

- S&D has been the #1 choice in terms of competitive play for Call of Duty (globally) in all iterations of the game to date. (followed by CTF, moreso after COD:OU and into COD2)
- Not surprisingly (and obviously leading to the statistic in the first bullet point), the Call of Duty communities tend to prefer S&D for competitive play.

Therefore the most "real" reason I can think of for having tournaments in S&D (and in context, particular to xLAN) would be to cater to the audience and therefore ensure a well patronised tournament results that people want to be a part of?

But that's just my opinion...

i should really clarify my statement as some here and over at ICONZ are obviously missing my point;

i realise it would be stupid having anything rather than the standard....and MUST be the same format as the WCG

also, it's a critical mass thing

BUT my PERSONAL preference would not be S&D

Yeah sometimes I get bored of S&D just as anybody might. HQ (KOTH) and DOM are all good fun, but thinking about the "bigger" picture, which is a tournament where you want people to be well versed in the game mode and other such important things, then yeah, S&D.

It's a bit like cricket. Most international cricket players like to play One Day cricket, maybe even 20/20 cricket, but almost all of them agree that the older format of "test cricket" (sometimes referred to as the only form of cricket by some) is the real measure.

Ok, maybe not a good analogy, lol Wink Havin said that, I'm up for some HQ/DOM on game weekend. hardcore or not...
