I found out that Germany did use the rules we used, so I don't know why the write up I read said different.

One thing I want to know, or if someone can tell me who I should contact?

At the german qualifiers they allowed dirty laps to count. The allowed any source of cutting the track you could get away with. Many people were up in arms over it but they allowed it anyway.

Quite frankly, it's bullshit. Take Sebring for example, theres a section in the last part of the track where you cut the chicanes 4 corners in a row. If you watch their replays from the German qual's, they aren't even on the track for up to 10 seconds at a time.

Just wondering if they're going to allow this at WCG, because its making a huge difference on what I should be practicing or not :S The amount of cutting is worth up to 4 seconds on some tracks per lap, so you can imagine it's not a little thing that I can just blow off.

Yes, I have also an experienced with MWF on xBox. I have xBox 360 and I have played many games on that without any trouble. It is really nice console for MWF and CoD.

PS3 has BluRay and a wider range of popular titles. That's about it tbh.

Xboxes committing suicide is a thing of the past. The newest slim Xbox is quieter than PS3 (and still a shitload cheaper). And Xbox can do 1080p as well (almost every game on both consoles still run 720p or lower though, most ~540p, then the console upscales it to 1080p for your telly).

Most of the other points above are subjective observations.

Lastly, Halo. Get a title on PS3 that has even *half* the community that Halo does then I'll be impressed

I'm very surprised people can't read... see the iPhone screenshot and proceed to rant about how you and your Nokia 2112 will be left out.

I only posted the screenshot:

1. as an example of something IRC can't do at a LAN (without paying for an app and having the IRC ports open on the firewall)
2. Because the iPhone Push Notifications is 4, yes FOUR lines of code to implement, vs a PC app which will take > 4 lines of code
3. Because I own an iPhone, not a Blackberry or Android based, Symbian based, Windows based, or some cheap knockoff interface (read: Sanyo) phone
4. to show that the backend (where all different clients running on all different platforms) is complete, and that progress is being made.

I'm locking this thread, I think we have all the useful feedback we're going to get for now. Anyone with actual feedback can PM, otherwise, see you at the next LAN.

Recently, our Call of Duty 4 team made their way to Auckland, NZ to compete at xLAN. xLAN is New Zealand's biggest LAN event all year, and also hosts their World Cyber Games Qualifiers. This year had plenty more games than just the standard WCG lot, including our boys competing in the Creative CoD4 Cup as well as MSI sponsoring the WCG Warcraft 3 qualifier! To be honest, if people are "able" to download/upload stuff from the net, they generally will, regardless of what might be the right/proper thing to do. Presume the worst and plan for that. Asking the majority of gamers to be "reasonable" is a bridge too far imo...

Using VMWare 3.5i Hypervisor... I think that's the full name. Ubuntu 10.04 for the virtual servers.

I think these are exactly the same as the KeSPA version (used in professional Korean leagues) with some anti-hack stuff for iCCup. KeSPA site gives me a malware warning so may or may not be safe to download off there.

Or are there WCG versions of the maps? Can't find on WCG website.
